Sensex slides to over 2-year low as FPIs keep selling
On NSE, Nifty too showed a similar trajectory and closed 199 points (0.9%) down at 22,422 points. For both leading indices, it was the first time in 25 years that they recorded lower weekly closes for eight consecutive weeks.

MUMBAI: Rising bond yields in almost all major markets around the world, along with spiking crude oil prices and a weak rupee, spooked investors on Dalal Street on Thursday, pulling the sensex down by nearly 1,200 points in mid-session to a more-than-two-year low level. However, some late buying helped the index recover some ground, and it closed 571 points (0.8%) down at 71,910 points.On NSE, Nifty too showed a similar trajectory and closed 199 points (0.9%) down at 22,422 points. For both leading indices, it was the first time in 25 years that they recorded lower weekly closes for eight consecutive weeks.The day’s slide came on the back of massive foreign fund selling, at Rs 9,484 crore. In four sessions, FPIs took out Rs 29,339 crore from the market.
