The final week of July brings an interesting lineup of South Indian films to streaming platforms. The latest releases include action dramas, crime thrillers, horror mysteries, emotional dramas and dark comedies. Here’s a look at the major South Indian films making their digital debut this week.

Pallichattambi‘, ‘Ego Raman‘ and more

Among the biggest releases is Tovino Thomas-starrer ‘Pallichattambi’, which will begin streaming on SonyLIV from July 24.Set in Kerala during the late 1950s, the period action drama follows Krishna Pillai, a man raised by both Hindu and Christian families, whose life changes as he becomes the feared Pallichattambi.The film also features Kayadu Lohar, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Baburaj and Shatru, while Prithviraj Sukumaran appears in a special cameo. Confirming the digital premiere, SonyLIV wrote, “നാടിനും നാട്ടുകാർക്കും പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ചട്ടമ്പി ഇനി SonyLIVൽ #Pallichattambi streaming from July 24th exclusively on SonyLIV.”Also arriving on July 24 is ‘Ego Raman’ on Prime Video. The film follows Arivu, a TNPSC aspirant who fulfils his dream of becoming a government officer. The cast includes Ciby Chandran, Robo Shankar, Cheran Raj and more.

Horror, crime and comedy

Fans of supernatural stories can look forward to ‘Kalinga Mystery’, which premieres on Sun NXT on July 24. The horror-comedy revolves around a group of college students who unknowingly unleash an ancient supernatural force. The film stars Dhyan Sreenivasan, Althaf Salim, Riyaz Khan, and others. The movie had received mixed reviews from the audiences during it’s theatrical release. AI scenes were said to be decent in the movie.Netflix will also add ‘Con City’ to its catalogue on July 24. The crime comedy follows four con artists posing as an ordinary family while running a hotel in Karnataka. Arjun Das and Anna Ben headline the cast alongside Yogi Babu, Vadivukkarasi, among others.On the same day, ‘Triple Decker’ will make its direct OTT debut on ManoramaMAX. The dark comedy follows a delivery executive whose attempt to help the woman he loves leads him into an increasingly chaotic situation. The film stars Akhil Sreekumaran, Vaishnavi and Gowri Kutty.

Chinna Chinna Aasai‘ gets OTT release date

‘Chinna Chinna Aasai’, directed by Varsha Vasudev, is set to stream on JioHotstar from July 28. Set in Varanasi, the film follows two strangers whose lives become connected through an unexpected turn of events.Announcing the release, the streaming platform wrote, “Every little wish has a story worth telling. Chinna Chinna Aasai streaming from July 28 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, exclusively on JioHotstar.”

Balan: The Boy‘ to close the month

Closing the month’s OTT releases is ‘Balan: The Boy’, which begins streaming on ZEE5 from July 31. Directed by Chidambaram, the Malayalam-Telugu film tells the story of a young boy raised inside a women’s correctional facility by his mother. After leaving the institution, the two continue changing their identities to escape their past. The climax, performances, technicl side, and music, received praises from the audiences.
