'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' box office collection Day 5: Tom Holland's blockbuster sees first major dip in India; races towards Rs 350 crore gross ahead of IMAX release

After an extraordinary opening weekend that rewrote Hollywood box office history in India, Tom Holland‘s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ witnessed its first significant drop in collections on Monday. Despite the expected weekday slowdown, the Marvel blockbuster continues to dominate cinemas and is now closing in on the Rs 350 crore gross milestone at the Indian box office.Spider-Man: Brand New Day Movie ReviewAccording to early estimates, Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected an estimated Rs 23.80 crore net on Day 5 across 16,874 shows nationwide. The Monday haul marked a 69.4% decline in collections from Sunday’s massive Rs 77.75 crore net collection. While the drop is steep, it comes after the film’s blockbuster opening weekend that saw it shatter multiple box office records.Breaking down the language-wise collections for Monday, the English version continued to lead with approximately ₹12.50 crore net, followed by the Hindi dubbed version, which earned around ₹8.75 crore. The Tamil version contributed an estimated ₹1.50 crore, while the Telugu version added ₹1 crore. The Malayalam and Kannada dubbed releases collectively earned around ₹50 lakh. With its latest earnings, the superhero spectacle has now amassed an estimated Rs 281.75 crore net and is now powerin on to the Rs 350 crore mark, with a current gross total of Rs 336.91 crore at the Indian box office. At a time when weekly collections have seen a dip in numbers, the film’s theatrical run is set to receive another boost with the IMAX release of the film this Friday. IMAX officially confirmed that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will begin screening in the premium large-format on August 7.The IMAX expansion comes at a time when the Marvel blockbuster is already enjoying a dominant run at cinemas with little competition from major Hollywood releases over the coming weeks. The premium-format release is expected to rake in higher average ticket prices, thus significantly boost its box office business.Globally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reportedly crossed the USD 1 billion mark within days of its release. With the addition of IMAX screens and strong audience demand continuing worldwide, industry analysts believe the film is well positioned to continue its march toward the USD 1.5 billion global milestone. In India, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ remains on course to comfortably cross the Rs 350 crore gross mark and even make it to the Rs 400 crore mark by the end of its first week at the box office.
