The BSE Sensex rebounded 362.57 points, or 0.48%, on Friday to end a four-day losing streak, helped by buying in metal, private banking and oil and gas stocks amid gains in global markets.

The 30-share Sensex settled at 76,515.43, with 20 constituents ending higher and 10 lower. The index surged as much as 730.28 points, or 0.95%, during the session to hit an intraday high of 76,883.14.

The broader NSE Nifty gained 24.25 points, or 0.10%, to close at 23,897.70. The index remained in positive territory for most of the session and crossed the 24,000 mark to hit an intraday high of 24,005.75, before paring gains during the newly introduced Closing Auction Session.

Among Sensex constituents, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finance, Trent, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, UltraTech Cement, Titan, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever were among the major gainers.

Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, Eternal, Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, ICICI Bank, Bharat Electronics and Maruti Suzuki India were among the major laggards.
