Indian shares were set for a stronger session on Thursday as softer oil prices and gains in global technology stocks lifted investor sentiment. The Sensex opened 103.82 points higher at 77,576.76, while the Nifty began trading at 24,277.60, a gain of 69.85 points. Brent crude extended losses amid hopes that diplomatic efforts involving Iran could ease disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, offering some relief to oil-importing economies such as India. Asian markets rose for a third straight day after Nvidia posted a strong earnings report and forecast robust revenue growth, boosting chip and technology stocks. Meanwhile, foreign investors bought Indian equities for a third consecutive session, with August inflows reaching their highest level since September 2024. Still, elevated US inflation and monthly expiry-related position adjustments remain key risks for the market.
