Indian equities remain under pressure as investors navigate a difficult combination of elevated crude oil prices, rising global bond yields and renewed uncertainty surrounding the US-Iran conflict.

The Sensex and Nifty have already endured a prolonged losing streak, with the Nifty falling for six consecutive sessions through Tuesday. The index lost 132.75 points, or 0.55 per cent, to settle at 24,154.90, while the Sensex declined 492.70 points, or 0.63 per cent, to 77,235.46.

The latest pressure is coming largely from global developments. Brent crude has climbed towards $92 a barrel as hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough between the US and Iran fade. Washington and Tehran continue to send conflicting messages over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy shipments. Any prolonged disruption could push energy prices higher and add to inflationary pressures.

Rising bond yields are another concern. The US 30-year Treasury yield has reached its highest level since 2007, while long-term borrowing costs have also risen in major economies including Germany and Japan. Higher US yields can reduce the appeal of emerging-market assets and make it harder for Indian equities to attract foreign capital.

Foreign institutional investors have already sold a record $25 billion worth of Indian shares so far in 2026. However, provisional exchange data showed that foreign investors bought Indian equities worth Rs 1,652 crore on Tuesday, potentially marking their second buying session in six days.

The rupee is facing similar pressures, with traders expecting it to open around 95.75-95.80 against the US dollar. High crude prices, elevated US yields and strong dollar demand are keeping the currency under pressure, although RBI intervention has helped contain volatility.

Investors will also have several domestic and global triggers to watch. Minutes of the US Federal Reserve’s July meeting are due later in the day, while market participants will continue tracking crude prices, global equity markets and developments in West Asia.

On the stock-specific front, Aster DM Quality Care, RailTel and Shiprocket are among the key names in focus. Centella Mauritius Holdings is reportedly looking to sell a 7.2 per cent stake in Aster DM Quality Care, RailTel has received a Rs 167-crore order from EPFO, and Shiprocket is set to make its market debut following its $170-million IPO.

This live blog will track the market from pre-open indications through the trading session, covering Sensex and Nifty movements, sectoral trends, top gainers and losers, stock-specific developments, crude oil, the rupee, FII flows and key global cues.
