Tariffs are over-emphasised, says BCG chief
BCG CEO says CEOs are adapting to geopolitical uncertainty, AI and faster-changing business environments.

NEW DELHI: The element of trade and tariffs is “over-emphasised” and the current generation of CEOs have realised there are other challenges they need to overcome to survive, BCG CEO Christoph Schweizer said at the ET World Leaders Forum Friday. Business leaders are no longer of the “mindset that this too shall pass”.“The generation of CEOs today has realised that things have changed… They know there won’t be a high degree of political and geopolitical stability… You have massive changes coming from AI and technology,” he said. In such a dynamic world, the planning horizon is now down to two-four years. “CEOs have started to embrace that and no one believes it’s going to be an easy world to navigate.”Deciding better and making it happen faster is the mantra now. “We need to be more than a little more agile and effective at getting stuff done.”Geopolitics has now reached the C-suite and the board rooms. In the bigger geopolitical jigsaw, he feels the “element of trade and tariffs is overemphasised. Global trade continues to grow.” The challenge for corporates is “evaluating what information means; and making the right decisions.”
