TCS Q1 FY27 results: Tata Consultancy Services reports 5% y-o-y increase in net profit to Rs 13,349 crore

TCS Q1 FY 2026-27 results: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, reported a 5% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the first quarter. Earnings rose to Rs 13,349 crore from Rs 12,760 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company’s board also approved an interim dividend of Rs 12 per share for FY27 and fixed July 15 as the record date for determining shareholder eligibility.Revenue from operations grew 14% year-on-year to Rs 72,275 crore during the quarter. Compared with the previous quarter, revenue increased 2.2% in rupee terms and 0.4% in constant currency.Operating margin stood at 24%, while net margin was 19.2%. TCS said these figures exclude exceptional items. Net cash generated from operations amounted to Rs 12,412 crore, equivalent to 93% of net income.The company secured new orders worth $9.5 billion during the quarter. The order book included an $800 million artificial intelligence-led transformation deal with SKF, a multi-million-dollar strategic partnership with ServiceNow and another multi-million-dollar engagement with a Europe-based Fortune Global 50 company.TCS said its annualised AI revenue run rate reached $2.6 billion in the first quarter of FY27, reflecting a 13.6% sequential increase. The company added that it won multiple AI-focused contracts spanning IT operations, software engineering, application modernisation, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementation and autonomous global business services.Chief Executive Officer K Krithivasan said the company’s performance reflected sustained business momentum despite geopolitical uncertainty and macroeconomic challenges. He noted that clients continued to increase spending on artificial intelligence, technology modernisation, cybersecurity, sovereign cloud infrastructure and platform simplification.During the quarter, TCS also entered into strategic partnerships with Anthropic and Mistral. As part of its collaboration with Anthropic, the company will establish a dedicated business unit and provide enterprise-wide access to Claude for 50,000 employees through a licensing arrangement. Under its partnership with Mistral, TCS became the first global systems integrator partner for Mistral Forge.At the end of June, TCS had a total workforce of 5,93,798 employees. Attrition in its IT services business over the preceding 12 months stood at 13.6%. The company said it completed annual salary revisions for all employees globally during the quarter and also aligned its compensation structure with the requirements of India’s new Labour Code.
