N Chandrasekaran, who has decided to step down as Tata Sons chairman, told employees to ignore the speculation and conspiracy theories circulating over the group’s leadership transition. Earlier today, N Chandrasekaran announced that he will not seek another term as chairman of Tata Sons after his current tenure expires in February 2027. This brings to a close a nine-year stint leading the conglomerate.Speaking at a town hall meeting held at Bombay House in the afternoon, Chandrasekaran reportedly said he had been “touched with the love and affection” shown to him by employees throughout his career and looked back on his 40-year journey with the Tata Group.“As you might have read or be aware, am not seeking reappointment after February 2027 as term comes to an end,” he told the gathering, according to a PTI report.Having spent four decades with the conglomerate, Chandrasekaran said he had never imagined his career would unfold the way it had, while acknowledging that every professional journey eventually reaches its conclusion and another leader would take over.
