Young and upcoming filmmaker Jason Sanjay who is the son of superstar and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Vijay is gearing up for the release of his directorial debut. While many fans expected that Jason might follow the path of his father and will act, he seems to have a preference at taking the seat behind the camera.

Jason Sanjay’s journey from film school to director

Jason Sanjay as he marks his entry with the film ‘Sigma’, he studied filmmaking abroad in Canada and London to learn the art of storytelling. In a conversation with Cinema Vikatan, CM’s son shared that he wrote a 120 page script when he was studying filmmaking in Canada. “While studying filmmaking in Canada, I wrote a 120-page script. I couldn’t make it into a feature then, so I turned it into a 20-minute short film to understand what I could do as a director,” he said.

Family’s support gave Jason Sanjay the confidence

During the same conversation he shared that his family’s support gave him the confidence to pursue this career. “I told my parents, my sister, and my friends that I wanted to enter cinema. Everyone responded positively, and that became a huge source of energy for me. Only then did I realise how much faith they had in me,” he added.

Jason on his close bond with sister Divya Saasha

Currently, he is the news as he has been promoting his upcoming film. During one of those interviews with Behindwoods TV, Jason spoke about the bond with his sister which only grew stronger after both left home for their higher education. While he moved to London to study filmmaking, they stayed connected through regular video calls.In addition to it, he also revealed that Jason’s sister Divya Saasha was the first person to hear the story of his upcoming film and her opinion helped him polish it. Jason also shared his reaction upon his father becoming the CM of Tamil Nadu. He called his father’s success a “historic revolution,” and shared that being part of such a public family comes with added responsibility, caution, and a legacy to safeguard.

About ‘Sigma’

Speaking about ‘Sigma’, the film features Sudeep Kishan in the lead which was earlier set to release in July, but was pushed ahead after Vijay’s last film ‘Jana Nayagan’ release in theaters on July 23.‘Sigma’ is now set to release in late August.
