A small loss of money can bring panic.The event itself is manageable.The mind reacts more strongly: “This has to happen the way I want it to happen.Krishna warns that this state can obscure judgement.Maybe you speak too fast. You may make a bad decision. You can chase something long after it’s no longer useful.

Desire Can Quietly Become Comparison

This habit gets stronger in modern life.You see someone else’s success online and suddenly your life feels like it’s missing something.You see a friend’s new car and it can make you feel bad about your car. It can make you question your own relationship because of someone else’s.The mind begins to gather reasons for discontent.And there is always another target. Peace becomes difficult.Krishna’s teaching is to notice when desire shifts from motivation to mental control.

That makes the difference.You can want a better job without thinking your life now is worthless.You can hope to find love without making another person’s attention the source of your self-worth.You can earn money without money. You can decide whether you are safe inside.Healthy desire allows for patience.Attachment is stress.

Krishna’s Warning Is About What You Keep Feeding

The mind grows stronger in the direction of what it attends to.If you keep feeding a grudge, the grudge gets bigger. If you keep feeding comparison, dissatisfaction grows.Likewise craving.Bhagavad Gita 2.62-63 Peace is lost long before any outer problem becomes serious. 62 It can start with a thought that is overthought, a wish that is given too much importance and a mind that slowly forgets how to be happy without getting only what it wants.
